Half of voters approve of Trump’s job performance: poll
Half of U.S. voters said they approve of the job President Trump’s done in office, according to Rasmussen Reports‘ daily Presidential Tracking Poll on Monday.
The survey found that 50 percent of likely voters polled said they approved of Trump’s job performance, while 49 percent of voters said they disapproved.
{mosads}The poll found that 33 percent said they strongly approved of Trump’s performance as president, while 39 percent said they strongly disapproved.
According to Rasmussen, the poll puts Trump ahead of where his predecessor, Barack Obama, was at this stage in his presidency.
It comes a week after CNN reported that Trump had reached his highest approval rating in more than a year, at 42 percent.
However, 54 percent of those polled said they disapproved of the job president’s done in office.
The surveys follow a series of shakeups within the Trump administration, which have seen the departures of former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, former Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin and former national security adviser H.R. McMaster.
Trump has also been the subject of claims he had multiple extramarital affairs around 2006.
The developments come as the president is gearing up to defend and campaign for Republicans in this fall’s midterm elections.
The Rasmussen Reports poll was conducted among 1,500 likely voters, with a margin of error of 2.5 percentage points.
The daily tracking polls are conducted on a three-day rolling average basis.
