Japanese PM says he had ‘a cheeseburger on the golf course’ with Trump
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe joked that he had two lunches with President Trump on Wednesday, including a cheeseburger on the president’s golf course.
Abe and Trump played a round of golf at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Wednesday.
The meeting between the two leaders came as Trump prepares for a landmark meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Abe made the joke about lunch during a dinner with Trump and first lady Melania Trump, according to White House pool reports.
He reportedly praised his friendship with the president, and thanked both Trump and his wife for their hospitality before adding that he already had two lunches.

The Washington Post first reported Tuesday that CIA Director Mike Pompeo, Trump’s pick for secretary of State, met with Kim earlier this month during a secret trip to North Korea.
Trump and Abe previously golfed together last year during Trump’s visit to Japan, where they were joined by a Japanese professional golfer.
Trump tweeted a photo of Abe and himself on the golf course on Wednesday, touting the game as an opportunity for the two leaders to build “an even deeper and better relationship.”
“Prime Minister @AbeShinzo of Japan and myself this morning building an even deeper and better relationship while playing a quick round of golf at Trump International Golf Club,” Trump tweeted.

Trump reportedly loves cheeseburgers, especially those from McDonald’s.
While visiting Japan last fall, Trump and Abe also ate cheeseburgers together.
