George Conway, the husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, is reportedly part of a “semi-secret” group of conservatives critical of President Trump.

The Washington Post revealed George Conway’s participation in the group known as the “Meeting of the Concerned” in a story about the couple on Wednesday.

According to the Post, in a profile of the Conways and their marriage, George Conway has only recently been “spotted” at the group meetings.

Other outlets have previously reported on the group, but not Conway’s participation. The New York Times reported in May that a group of “Never Trump Republicans” has been collaborating at invitation-only meetings to oppose the Trump administration’s agenda.

The group also released a public statement last November asking Republicans in Congress to protect Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation, according to The Washington Post.

George Conway’s tweets critical of Trump have earned him media attention, in part due to the stark contrast to his spouse’s strong defense of the president. He most recently suggested on Tuesday that Trump regularly makes “false and misleading statements.”

He told the newspaper he views the tweets as an “outlet” and “a quick easy way to express myself.”

“If my wife were the counselor to the CEO of Pepsi and I had a problem with her boss, I would simply drink my Coke and keep my mouth shut,” George Conway told the Post. “If the president were simply mediocre or even bad, I’d have nothing to say. This is much different.”

Kellyanne Conway told the Post that she viewed the tweets as “disrespectful,” but sought to walk back the comments by adding that “people see it that way.”
