Scarborough thanks ABC for canceling ‘Roseanne’

“Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough thanked ABC for canceling “Roseanne” after star Roseanne Barr’s tweet about former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett that was widely condemned as racist.

“There are still boundaries in the Age of Trump that cannot be crossed,” Scarborough tweeted Tuesday. “Thank you for putting values above money.”

ABC announced Tuesday that it was canceling Barr’s show after her tweet calling Jarret the love child of the Islamist organization Muslim Brotherhood and the movie “Planet of the Apes.”

“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said in a statement.

Scarborough had previously called for ABC to stop airing the sitcom after Barr’s tweet.

Barr had apologized for the tweet and announced that she was leaving Twitter.

Barr, a vocal supporter of President Trump, starred in the reboot of her sitcom this year, which also depicted her titular character as a supporter of Trump.

The president called Barr to congratulate her on the reboot’s high ratings after its debut.
