Report: Hensarling turned down top budget office spot
Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) turned down an offer from President-elect Donald Trump to head the White House’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB), according to Politico’s Playbook.
{mosads}Hensarling, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, was also reportedly considered for Treasury secretary, which went to billionaire Steve Mnuchin.
The head of the OMB manages the president’s budget and the mechanics of the federal government.
Trump is now considering Gary Cohn, the president of Goldman Sachs, to lead the OMB, according to Politico.
