Trump knocks CNN: ‘You should have been apologizing for the last two years’

President Trump blasted CNN during a rally Friday night, seizing on news of the network issuing a correction on one of its reports related to the Russia probe earlier in the day.

“Oh thank you, CNN, thank you so much,” Trump said during a rally in Pensacola, Fla., touting accomplishments during his tenure and blasting media outlets.

“You should have been apologizing for the last two years,” Trump added to cheers.

{mosads}Hours earlier, CNN issued a correction to a Friday morning exclusive about documents that Donald Trump Jr. received from WikiLeaks after multiple other outlets contradicted the story.

The original CNN report said Trump’s eldest son had received an email pointing him to the documents on Sept. 4, before WikiLeaks had made the documents public. But other media outlets reported that Trump Jr. and other campaign officials had received the email on Sept. 14, after the documents had already been made public.

CNN acknowledged the error, issued a correction, changed the headline and removed a tweet in the report from Trump Jr. from early September.

CNN’s initial reporting of the date on an email sent to members of the Trump campaign about Wikileaks documents, which was confirmed by two sources to CNN, was incorrect. We have updated our story to include the correct date, and present the proper context for the timing of email
Trump used the incident as well as a faulty report from ABC News last week as his latest ammunition to attack media outlets, with whom he regularly feuds.

“They’ve been apologizing left and right,” Trump claimed Friday night.

The president blasted ABC News chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross, calling him a “fraudster” and arguing that his four-week suspension wasn’t enough after stocks tumbled late last week after the network report.

Ross reported on-air that former national security adviser Michael Flynn was prepared to testify that Trump directed him during the campaign to make contact with Russian officials. ABC later issued a correction, saying Trump made the request after the election and before he took office.

“They should have fired him for what he wrote,” Trump said.
