Russia says gas supply to Europe uninterrupted
Despite an explosion at a critical pipeline in Ukraine the flow of gas to Europe has not been disrupted, Russia’s state-controlled gas company said Wednesday.
Tuesday’s explosion was not near the conflict between Ukrainian troops and pro-Russia separatists, and came one day after Russia shut off natural gas supplies to Ukraine following a disagreement over price.
{mosads}Still, Russia’s gas monopoly Gazprom said Wednesday that gas flows are flowing to European customers based on contracted amounts, the Associated Press reports.
While Ukraine’s energy minister said he has reason to believe “the blast was caused by sabotage,” Gazprom speculated the explosion may have been caused by poor maintenance.
