Liz Cheney sets sights on Obama’s green rules

Liz Cheney said her top reason for running for Wyoming’s House seat is to undo President Obama’s environmental rules that harm the coal industry.

Cheney, a Republican daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, kicked off her campaign Monday to replace Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R), who is retiring from Wyoming’s sole House seat.

{mosads}She told the Gillette News Record that her top reason for running is to reverse Obama actions that hurt the energy industry, especially coal.

“There is no question Wyoming has been harder hit than any other state over the past eight years,” she told the newspaper, adding that Obama has been “determined” to kill coal.

“It’s very clear to me this administration, this EPA is only interested in falsely seeing the damage coal does,” Cheney said.

She named specifically the carbon dioxide limits for power plants and the three-year moratorium on new coal leases on federal land as actions she opposes, saying she’d “roll back these disastrous policies.”

Cheney is the ninth Republican candidate to announce her candidacy for Wyoming’s seat.
