Avalere Health announces international partnership

Avalere Health is stepping onto the international stage by joining forces with a life sciences consulting firm based in the United Kingdom, the firms announced Monday.

The partnership between Avalere and Pope Woodhead & Associates will expand the firms’ geographic reach and strengthen their regulatory expertise across borders, said Avalere CEO Dan Mendelson.

“Evidence is global, but healthcare decisions to purchase, prescribe and use technologies are local. Global life science companies must embrace a global view in how they think about data and evidence, but incorporate the local needs of each market,” Mendelson said in a statement.

Founded in 2000, Avalere has emerged in the last five years as one of Washington’s leading health policy shops, with clients in the insurance, pharmaceutical and government sectors.

Pope Woodhead’s clients have included Pfizer, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Bayer and AstraZeneca.
