ISIS threatens attack on Washington

The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) warns in a new video that countries, including the U.S., that are taking part in Syrian airstrikes will suffer the same fate as France.

{mosads}”We say to the states that take part in the crusader campaign that, by God, you will have a day, God willing, like France’s and, by God, as we struck France in the center of its abode in Paris, then we swear that we will strike America at its center in Washington,” a man said in the video, according to Reuters.

The authenticity of the video could not be immediately verified.

President Obama over the weekend vowed to redouble efforts to fight ISIS after the group claimed credit for terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday that left 129 dead and scores more injured.

The U.S. had conducted more than 2,500 strikes in Syria in the anti-ISIS operation as of last week, according to figures from the Defense Department, while other countries in the coalition carried out nearly 150. France on Sunday dropped 20 bombs in the ISIS stronghold of Raqqa.
