Basketofdeplorables.com appears online
Hillary Clinton’s controversial remark about the “basket of deplorables” supporting Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has been turned into a website.
The domain name basketofdeplorables.com was privately registered on Sept. 10, the day after Clinton said “half” of Trump supporters could be labeled “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic — you name it.”
{mosads}It appears the domain was not registered to attack Clinton, the Democratic nominee. It redirects to a YouTube video of Trump’s running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, declining to call David Duke deplorable. Duke is a former Ku Klux Klan leader who supports Trump’s presidential bid.
During the CNN interview, Pence said he doesn’t engage in name-calling, adding that the campaign doesn’t want the support of Duke or people like him. Trump’s campaign chief said after the interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer that Pence should have called Duke deplorable.
Clinton has been on the defensive over the “basket of deplorables” remark, which the Trump campaign quickly turned into a campaign ad.
The Democrat has said she regrets the “grossly generalistic” comment.
