Trump’s Twitter account deactivated by employee on their last day

Twitter said late Thursday that the employee who briefly deactivated President Trump’s Twitter account did it on their last day of work.

“Through our investigation we have learned that this was done by a Twitter customer support employee who did this on the employee’s last day,” Twitter said in a statement. “We are conducting a full internal review.”

Hours earlier, Twitter attributed the disappearance of Trump’s account to “human error.”

“Earlier today @realdonaldtrump’s account was inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee,” Twitter said.

“The account was down for 11 minutes, and has since been restored. We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again,” the company added.

Trump’s account briefly disappeared from the social network for several minutes Thursday night, returning an error to anyone who tried to access it.

The deactivation of Trump’s account quickly went viral, with some social media users praising the employee for deactivating the account.

Trump regularly uses his Twitter account to weigh in on current events. The president often makes news on the social media platform while jabbing at critics.
