Eugene Scott
Eugene Scott is a rarity among Washington-area professionals — in a city of travelers, the CNN political reporter is actually from the city.
“I was born and raised in D.C. I grew up on the Hill in a really political family,” Scott says, adding he left the District “before it was this sexy, cool, millennial” spot.
Scott’s travels have taken him to Denmark and Peru, and that’s just this year. He went to school in North Carolina and Massachusetts, has worked in Kansas City and Phoenix, and studied abroad in South Africa.
The pressures of covering the 2016 campaign, however, mean working in his hometown doesn’t necessarily equate to more time with the family.
“My younger brother says he would see me more if I moved away. I’m home, but I’m not home.”
Will that ease up after November?
“Unless there’s a recount,” Scott says with a smile.
