NASA wins award for best Twitter use
The award was announced at a special live ceremony at Times Center in New York’s Times Square on Monday. The event marked the fourth annual Shorty Awards, a ceremony honoring the best in short-form social media content. Other big winners from the night included Justin Bieber in the Celebrity category and the Jonas Brothers in the Band category. Nominees for each category were selected by tallying the top votes from social-media users around the world, with six winners selected in each category.
{mosads}This year, NASA was the only government agency selected as a top user in the #Government category.
In an interview with NASA on the Shorty Awards website, a spokesman for the organization said that NASA used Twitter “to share mission developments and other agency activities.”
When asked why the public should vote for NASA, the spokesman replied, “As @VeronicaMcG said when she nominated us, name another agency that promises you the moon(s) and delivers.”
