Dems name new members of House Transportation Committee
{mosads}Rahall said the new Transportation Committee members were “a dynamic, regionally balanced, group…who are well suited to work on transportation and infrastructure issues.
“Combined with the broad experience and knowledge of the committee’s current members, the committee Democratic Caucus is now primed and ready to tackle the many pressing issues that will be on the agenda in the new Congress,” Rahall said.
Rahall said Democrats are gaining an extra seat on the Transportation Committee next year when the 113th Congress is sworn in. But even with the addition, Democrats will still be at 27-33 disadvantage on the Republican-led panel.
Republicans in the House have selected Rep. Bill Shuster (R-Pa.) to chair the Transportation Committee in the next Congress. He will replacing outgoing chairman Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.).
Democrats have voted to allow Rahall to remain as ranking member of the panel.
