Thursday’s meeting announcements: Safety commission to talk infant carriers

Thursday’s edition of the Federal Register will announce new meetings of federal agencies and advisory panels, from the Consumer Product Safety Commission to Department of Heath and Human Service panels.

Here’s what’s coming up:

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is holding a meeting on Oct. 29 in Bethesda, Md., to discuss hand held carriers for infants. 

A federal advisory panel for nurse education and practice is holding a webinar to discuss issues facing nurses in the implementation of the Affordable Care Act on Nov. 7 and 8. 

On Nov. 13, the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission will hear oral arguments about a Labor Department case involving coal dust. 

Also on Nov. 13, a coordinating council on juvenile justice and delinquency prevention is meeting at the Justice Department’s headquarters in Washington.

A Health and Human Services Department subcommittee on health standards is meeting on Nov. 12, and a full panel on vital and health statistics is meeting on Nov. 13 and 14 in Hyattsville, Md. 

A Forest Service panel is meeting in Golden Pond, Ky., on Nov. 14 to discuss federal lands in the area. 

Also on Nov. 14, the Commerce Department’s technical advisory committee on materials will meet at its Washington headquarters. 

On Nov. 14 and 15, the National Council on the Humanities is meeting to discuss policy and grant applications. 

The Health and Human Services Department’s advisory council for healthcare research and quality is meeting in Rockville, Md., on Nov. 15. 

On Nov. 18 and 19, a federal fishing council will hold meetings in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam to hear ideas about managing bottomfish

Teams for catching groundfish in the Gulf of Alaska and Bering Sea will meet in Seattle, Wash., from Nov. 18 to 22 to discuss the stock of the fish in the sea. 

On Nov. 19 a board for the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation is holding a conference call to get updates from U.S. Northern and Southern Command, the State Department and the Defense Department. 

A Bureau of Land Management advisory council is meeting in Las Cruces, N.M., on Nov. 20 to discuss resources in the area. 

An Energy Department advisory board is meeting in Washington on Dec. 3 and 4 to discuss energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives and programs.
