Pro-McConnell super PAC accuses Grimes of dishonesty in new ad

A pro-Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) super PAC is launching an ad accusing Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes of dishonesty and tying her to dropped health care coverage under ObamaCare.

The ad, from Kentuckians for Strong Leadership, draws a connection between Obama’s erroneous declaration that Americans could keep their coverage under ObamaCare if they liked it, and an ad launched by Lundergan Grimes’ campaign attacking McConnell over the government shutdown.

“Obama knew all along that wasn’t true. And how about Obama supporter Alison Grimes? Her credibility’s burned too,” a narrator said.

It features clips of fact-checkers evaluating the claim in Lundergan Grimes’ ad, that McConnell “[lit] the house on fire and then claim[ed] credit for putting it out” as false.

“Grimes and Obama — when liberals don’t tell the truth, Kentucky gets burned.”

The ad is backed by a $340,000 buy and will run on broadcast and cable television statewide, which nearly matches the $330,000 currently being spent by the Senate Conservatives Fund on a television ad accusing McConnell of funding ObamaCare.

The Senate Minority Leader has also been the subject of television ads from a Democratic outside group over the past week, also focused on his role in the shutdown.
