Tuesday’s meeting announcements: Chemical safety listening sessions
Chemical safety, energy reliability and public diplomacy will be on the docket at upcoming meetings of federal advisory boards.
Here’s a look at what’s on the way:
{mosads}Multiple agencies will hold public listening sessions on Tuesday, Nov. 19, and on Dec. 11 to discuss ideas for ways to improve the safety of chemical facilities. The agencies will also hold online webinars on Nov. 25 and Dec. 16. The events are part of the Obama administration’s effort to ramp up security at chemical sites in the wake of the April explosion in West, Texas.
On Thursday, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is holding a meeting to discuss a series of reliability standards and power companies.
Also on Thursday, the Federal Election Commission will meet to talk about draft opinions on conservative funds and other issues.
On Nov. 25, the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board is meeting in Washington to review its savings plan activity reports.
On Dec. 2, the State Department’s advisory commission on public diplomacy is meeting at the Capitol Visitors Center to talk about challenges and opportunities in 2014.
An International Trade Administration panel on renewable energy and energy efficiency is meeting on Dec. 3 in Washington.
Also on Dec. 3, the General Services Administration’s commission on election administration is getting together in Washington to talk about ways to improve the way elections are run.
The Navy’s advisory panel on ocean research is meeting on Dec. 3 and 4 in Arlington, Va.
The National Council on Disability is getting together for its quarterly meeting on Dec. 4 and 5 in Topeka, Kan.
Also on Dec. 4 and 5, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s task force on air quality is getting together in Beltsville, Md.
The board for a national performance award is meeting on Dec. 9 in Gaithersburg, Md.
The federal commission for the Susquehanna River Basin is meeting in Annapolis, Md., on Dec. 12.
The Pentagon’s advisory committee for testing of military personnel is meeting in Rosemont, Ill., on Dec. 12 and 13 to talk about computerized screening tests.
Also on Dec. 12 and 13, the Environmental Protection Agency’s environmental financial advisory board is holding a meeting in Arlington, Va.
A federal committee of national landmarks is meeting on Dec. 17 and 18 in Washington.
On March 3, 2014, a National Institutes of Health panel on cancer is meeting in Bethesda, Md.
