Gov. Jindal adds staff to his D.C.-based nonprofit

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) has added another staffer to his Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit, America Next.

According to the Baton Rouge newspaper The Advocate, the nonprofit hired Chris Jacobs, a senior policy analyst for the Jim DeMint-affiliated Heritage Foundation, as its policy director.

Jacobs told colleagues in an email that he’s joining the nonprofit to help develop its conservative policy proposals.

{mosads}“While this opportunity was as sudden as it was unexpected, it was simply too good to pass up. In my new role, I’ll be working on crafting conservative policy solutions on issues ranging from health care to energy to education and more. I will still be living and working in the D.C. area, so I will hopefully still see and work with many of you, albeit in a different role,” Jacobs wrote.

Jill Neunaber, who managed Mitt Romney’s Iowa campaign last cycle and was deputy manager of his New Hampshire campaign during the primary, is already heading up the organization as executive director.

Jindal, considered a potential 2016 presidential contender, launched the nonprofit earlier this year to develop conservative policy solutions to compete with Democratic proposals.

The nonprofit, as it continues to ramp up, will give him a platform to pitch ideas on a national level and continue to build his profile as he steps down from his position as chairman of the Republican Governors Association this year.
