McCain to Christie: ‘Answer every question’
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) says New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) needs to answer every question about the George Washington Bridge Scandal during Thursday’s press conference.
“Put everything on the table. Answer every question. If it’s a three-hour press conference … answer every question, every comment and then move on,” McCain said Thursday on MSNBC’s “The Daily Rundown.”
Christie is expected to hold a press conference Thursday morning at 11 a.m. about the scandal.
{mosads}On Wednesday, internal emails from people within Christie’s inner circle linked them to lane closures on the George Washington Bridge last September.
Christie’s deputy chief of staff requested that a traffic jam be created on the bridge near Fort Lee, N.J. It appeared to be an act of revenge against the town’s mayor, who didn’t endorse Christie in last year’s election.
The governor denied Wednesday evening that he was aware of the email exchanges.
Christie is a likely contender for the Republican presidential race in 2016. McCain, the GOP 2008 presidential nominee, says Christie needs to be upfront about everything he knew about the scandal.
“The last thing you need is one of these things to be dragged out. I can say that from personal experience, my friend,” McCain told host Chuck Todd.
