House to probe impact of ObamaCare’s 30-hour full-time rule
The House Ways and Means Committee will meet Tuesday to explore how ObamaCare’s definition of full-time work is affecting job creation across the country.
Republicans have noted for the last few years now that ObamaCare requires companies to treat people as full-time workers once they work 30 hours a week. That rule, they say, has led some companies to reduce people’s hours to just under 30, in order to help avoid the requirement to provide them with health insurance.
{mosads}”ObamaCare imposes large and disproportionate costs on employers and has created a new class of employees, the ‘ObamaCare 29ers,’ ” Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-Mich.) said this week. “Many of these people have either lost or risk losing their full-time status and are being held back through no fault of their own but instead by a misguided law.”
The hearing is one of several that are planned for Tuesday, the day before the House will break to allow Republicans to gather for their annual retreat in Maryland.
Other committees will explore progress in the war on poverty, ways to reduce prostitution at the Super Bowl, implementation of the Iran nuclear deal, and wasted money at the Transportation Security Administration. Details on these and other hearings follow here:
