Russia won’t publicize sanction targets

Russia does not plan to publicly name any new Western officials they’ve blacklisted, according to media reports.

{mosads}Sergei Ryabkov, Russia’s deputy foreign minister, said Saturday that Moscow would not publish any new sanction targets, unlike the U.S. and other governments, Reuters reported.

President Vladimir Putin’s government said Friday that it had expanded sanctions on the West over the current conflict in Ukraine. The U.S. and the European Union have now had an extended back-and-forth of sanctions in recent weeks with Russia, who has sanctioned about two dozen U.S. and Canadian officials.

Sanctioned U.S. lawmakers such as Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Sen. Dan Coats have taken pride in being called out by Russia. Senior White House officials have also been sanctioned by Moscow.
