Virginia GOP House candidate Comstock hauls in $750K

Virginia Del. Barbara Comstock (R) raised more than $750,000 in her first quarter as a House candidate, a huge haul for a non-incumbent.

{mosads}Comstock, a well-connected Beltway power player, is facing a potentially competitive GOP primary on April 26, and the haul means she’ll likely be the only candidate with the resources to make major TV buys in Washington, D.C.’s expensive market.

It also gives her a big boost heading into what could be a competitive general election. Rep. Frank Wolf’s (R-Va.) retirement gave Democrats hope of a win in the slightly Republican-leaning suburban Virginia seat.

The Republican establishment has rallied around Comstock, a former Wolf staffer. She has endorsements from Mitt Romney, conservative radio hosts Sean Hannity and Mark Levin, and Citizens United.

“We are grateful for the overwhelming support from the people of the 10th District and throughout the Republican community,” said Comstock Campaign Manager Susan Falconer. “We are building great momentum, because Barbara has a message that strongly resonates with the voters of the 10th District.”
