Boehner to Dems: ‘Where are the jobs?’

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) slammed Senate Democrats on Saturday for stalling to take up dozens of jobs bills passed by the House.

Giving the weekly GOP address from a propeller plant in Piqua, Ohio, Boehner said the public continues to ask, “where are the jobs?”

{mosads}And Republicans are trying to provide an answer, Boehner said.

The catch, he added: “The president said he wanted this to be a year of bipartisan action. We just need to get this party’s leaders in the Senate to take up our jobs bills.”

The Ohio lawmaker went on to blast the Obama Administration for a record clouded with promises “that never panned out.”

Still, the Republican-run House, he said, is working “every week” to pass initiatives that will help create jobs.

“What I heard here – and what I hear everywhere I go – is that we need to get the federal government out of the way,” Boehner said.

“We’re ready to improve job training programs so workers can acquire the right skills; expand production of American-made energy to lower costs; open new markets for small manufacturers; and repeal and replace ObamaCare,” he continued.

Boehner also listed the number of Republicans’ hard-won battles, from blocking permanent tax increases, to passing three free trade agreements in previous years.

“So imagine what we could do if the powers-that-be in Washington changed course,” he said.
