Kingston’s kids in new ad: ‘He really is cheap’

Rep. Jack Kingston’s (R-Ga.) newest ad features his kids making fun of his penny-pinching ways, a light-hearted spot aimed at reinforcing his fiscal conservatism with voters.

{mosads}”He really is cheap, and it’s not just the car he drives,” Kingston’s daughter Betsy says in the ad.

“He’ll drive five miles on empty, just to save two cents a gallon,” his son John says.

“You know, for Dad, it’s about personal responsibility and respecting the value of a dollar. He’ll be the same way in the Senate,” his other kids say.

The Senate candidate’s ad campaign has heavily featured his old station wagon as a way to promote his fiscal conservatism. He’s one of five serious GOP candidates running for retiring Sen. Saxby Chambliss’s (R-Ga.) seat.

“I’m Jack Kingston and I approved this message — once I saw it was under budget,” he jokes at the end.

The Appropriations Committee member has been near the top in recent polls, most of which show he and businessman David Perdue have the strongest shot at making the two-candidate runoff. His big fundraising has allowed him to run a lot more ads than most of his opponents, putting him in the spot he’s in today.

Kingston is also getting support from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
