‘Veep’ creator thought Biden video would never happen
“Veep” creator Armando Iannucci says even he was surprised that a video featuring the HBO series’ star, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Vice President Biden for the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) dinner actually came together.
In a sit-down interview a day after the dinner with The Hill’s Bob Cusack and Judy Kurtz, Iannucci said when he first was told about the idea to have a “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”-inspired skit with Louis-Dreyfus and the real VP, he thought to himself, “That sounds funny, but this will never happen. There will be so many layers of people who need to sign off everything that of course this is never going to happen.”
Iannucci also revealed that a few elements from the video didn’t quite make it to air at the dinner, including referring to lawmakers as “politicians.” Instead, they were called “public servants.”
