DCCC outraises NRCC by $1.3M in May

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee outraised its Republican counterpart by $1.3 million last month, raising $7.3 million to the National Republican Congressional Committee’s $6 million.

The DCCC ended May with $45.9 million cash on hand, while the NRCC had $35.2 million in the bank.

{mosads}A DCCC aide said that over $2.3 million of the $7.3 million May haul came from over 117,000 donations made online.

The DCCC has now raised $113.9 million for the cycle, and has $18.4 million more cash than it did at this same point in the 2012 cycle. The NRCC has raised $91.7 million for the cycle so far.

The DCCC has consistently outraised the NRCC this cycle, in part because of significant support from some of the party’s biggest names.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and DCCC Chairman Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) have sustained a “blistering” fundraising pace, the committee aide said, and President Obama is holding his sixth fundraiser for the committee next week in Minnesota, with two additional events scheduled for July.

Democrats are facing an uphill battle in picking up the 17 seats they’ll need to take back the majority, but the DCCC has used its haul to get a head-start on staff investments and media buys.
