Romney heading to West Virginia

Former presidential nominee Mitt Romney (R) is heading to West Virginia to help a trio of GOP candidates.

{mosads}Romney will stump with Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), the front-runner in her Senate race, where she’s favored to flip the seat of retiring Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D). On Aug. 19 he’ll also help a pair of Republican House candidates: former Maryland GOP Chairman Alex Mooney, running for Capito’s open seat, and state Sen. Evan Jenkins, running to unseat vulnerable Rep. Nick Rahall (D).

The trip is part of a continued effort by Romney to boost Republicans nationwide heading into the 2014 elections.

He’s been very busy on the campaign trail for someone who’s officially out of the political process and had a sterling record in primary endorsements, but it remains to be seen how well he’ll do in the general election.
