Sen. Bridges? ‘Don’t even think about it’

It turns out when it comes to considering a Senate run in Montana, Jeff Bridges does not abide.

{mosads}The Academy Award winner was the subject of a recent petition on Change.org and on Facebook encouraging him to run for the open Senate seat in the Treasure State.

But Bridges, widely known for his role as “The Dude” in 1998’s “The Big Lebowski,” says his wife of nearly 40 years put the kibosh on any political career.

According to Mediaite.com, Bridges told Howard Stern Monday on the radio host’s SiriusXM show: “There’s a group of people that have called in and want me to run for senator of Montana, like 1,000 people, and I said, ‘Sue?’ ”

Bridges then described his wife’s reaction, saying, “And she looks at me and says, ‘Don’t even think about it.’ ”

The support for Bridges, 64, came after Sen. John Walsh (D-Mont.) withdrew from the Senate race last week amid reports he allegedly plagiarized a portion of his master’s thesis. Walsh, an Iraq War veteran, said that the research paper had become “a distraction.”

Democrats have scheduled a convention in Montana this weekend to choose a new nominee for the party, ahead of an Aug. 20 deadline.
