McCain to Obama: We need a plan in Iraq

Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) called on President Obama to develop a strategy to combat Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) fighters.

“It is far past time for President Obama to develop a comprehensive strategy to combat the threat posed by ISIS,” the senators said on Tuesday. “A comprehensive strategy to counter ISIS must be devised and we must begin to implement it now, for the threat posed by ISIS only grows with each passing day, as do the risks of our delay.”

{mosads}McCain and Graham said they support Obama’s humanitarian efforts and airstrikes but that the president must do more militarily to fight the Islamic militants who have threatened the United States and seized land in Syria and Iraq.

“Nobody should believe that the threat posed by ISIS is limited to Iraq’s borders,” McCain and Graham said. “Senior administration officials including the Director of the FBI, the Secretary of Homeland Security, and the Attorney General have all repeatedly warned that ISIS poses a direct threat to the United States.”

Their calls came the same day the administration announced he would send an additional 130 military advisers to Iraq.
