Halliburton launches recruiting ads in Colorado

Oil and gas services provider Halliburton Co. has launched a television advertisement in Colorado to recruit employees and encourage a positive image of the company.

The ad hit the airwaves Wednesday with English and Spanish versions. They portray a father and daughter, both immigrants from Paraguay that are Halliburton engineers.

{mosads}“My father brought our family here from Paraguay to give our family a better life,” Gabby Arias, the younger engineer, says in the ad. “Because of the opportunity that Halliburton gave me, I’m following in his footsteps.”

Emily Mir, a spokeswoman for Halliburton, told the Houston Chronicle that the ads are meant to help the company attract the best employees. With many oil and gas companies recruiting in Colorado, Halliburton believes that it is important to become the first company recruits hear about.

Mir said Halliburton is spending six figures on the campaign. It includes social media and a website about “Halliburton in Colorado.”

The ads come shortly after activists led by Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.) and state leaders came to an agreement to pull a ballot measure that could have severely restricted oil and gas development and hydraulic fracturing in the state.

Coloradans saw an influx of commercials and other ads in recent months from both sides of that debate. But the issue will be in the hands of a commission charged with recommending potential rules in 2016.
