Zuckerberg-linked group to spend $1M for Shaheen
An affiliate of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s political advocacy group is putting nearly $1 million into New Hampshire to back Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D) in her reelection bid.
The Council for American Job Growth is launching a 10-day television spot touting Shaheen’s support on veterans issue.
The group has ties to FWD.us, which Zuckerberg founded to advocate for immigration reform and other issues important to the tech industry.
{mosads}”Jeanne Shaheen is really looking out for veterans and that means a lot,” says a man in the ad identified as Alan Good, a U.S. Army veteran. Two other Iraq veterans are also featured in the ad.
The ad titled “A Lot” highlights her support for a veterans reform bill which passed the Senate with near unanimous support and was signed by President Obama in August.
Shaheen is in a close race against GOP challenger, former Sen. Scott Brown (Mass.)
Though the ad does not mention Brown or FWD.us’s key issue of immigration reform, it comes less than a month after Brown blasted Shaheen and the president in his own ad over the threat from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
In his ad, Brown said he wants “to secure the border, keep out the people who would do us harm,” questioning Shaheen’s national security credentials.
Recent polling has shown Shaheen with a single-digit lead over Brown.
