McFadden: ‘Not even Don Draper’ could sell voters on Franken
“Mad Men” has made its way into the Minnesota Senate race, with Sen. Al Franken’s opponent quipping that “not even Don Draper” could sell voters on a second term for the Democrat.
{mosads}Jon Hamm, who plays the dapper, super-salesman advertising exec on AMC’s award-winning drama, appeared at a get-out-the-vote rally for Franken on Monday in Minnesota.
Shortly after the event, Republican Mike McFadden’s campaign released a statement: “Between voting with President Obama 97 percent of the time and refusing to support a ban on travelers from Ebola-infected nations, Al Franken has repeatedly put his partisan agenda ahead of what’s best for Minnesota families.”
“With a record like this, not even Don Draper could sell Minnesotans on another six years of Al Franken,” the investment banker’s team said.
It’s not the first time Franken’s reelection campaign has enlisted the help of the Golden Globe-winning actor. The campaign held a fundraising contest in February to attend an event featuring the lawmaker and Hamm.
