McCarthy gives NRCC $500K

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Wednesday donated $500,000 to the National Republican Congressional Committee in the waning days of the 2014 cycle.

All $500,000 came from McCarthy’s fundraising efforts. In total, McCarthy has given the NRCC $4 million, according to an aide.

{mosads}McCarthy will also hit the campaign trail in three of the most competitive districts in the country.

Beginning Sunday through Election Day, McCarthy will campaign on behalf of Rep. Lee Terry (R-Neb.), Steve Southerland (R-Fla.) and Rick Allen, who is running to unseat Rep. John Barrow (D-Ga.).

Terry and Southerland are two of the most vulnerable House Republican incumbents this year, along with Rep. Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.).

The top three House Republicans have raised millions for their colleagues as they try to expand their majority this year.

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) raised $5.7 million through his Boehner for Speaker joint committee and more than $180,000 for his Freedom Project leadership PAC for the fundraising quarter that ended Sept. 30.

McCarthy, who became majority leader in August, donated $26,000 to Republican candidates from his reelection committee during that same period.

Boehner is also hitting campaign stops all over the country in the final days. He stumped for GOP candidate David Young, who’s running to replace retiring Rep. Tom Latham (R-Iowa), earlier this week, as well as in Illinois for state Rep. Mike Bost (R). Boehner will also visit West Virginia to campaign for Republican state Sen. Evan Jenkins, who’s running to unseat Rep. Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.).
