President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will be handing out Hershey Kisses, black licorice, orange tangerine jelly beans, kettle corn and White House sweet dough butter cookies for Halloween.

More befitting of the first lady’s initiatives on nutrition, there will also be a healthy option — a Gala apple — as well as baseball cards featuring the first dogs.

{mosads}Some 4,500 children and their parents are expected to visit the White House for Halloween this year, and the entire South Lawn has been decorated for the occasion. Topiaries of the First Dogs “Bo” and “Sunny” will be dressed up in costume as circus clowns, and some 200 carved pumpkins have been placed around the grounds.

President Obama already enjoyed a Halloween treat of his own, purchasing a full “Death By Chocolate” cake at a Rhode Island restaurant he visited earlier Friday.

“The word is that the chocolate-layer cake here is deadly and it’s devilish, and so for Halloween, this is the kind of sin that we want to commit,” Obama quipped.

But the president did say he was a little disappointed his daughters are getting too old to go trick or treating.

“We still have the pictures and they’ll resent them later, but at the time, they were fine with it,” Obama said. “They were so cute.”
