Booker: ‘It’s a tough time’ for Democrats

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) said low voter turnout in the midterm elections has made it “a tough time for us as Democrats.”

Booker’s comments during an MSNBC interview came as Democrats found out they’ve lost five critical Senate seats. Republicans need to flip six seats in order to take control of the Senate.

{mosads}Booker said it would be a “shame” if Republicans take over because issues such as increasing the federal minimum wage would be “put in the sideline.”

He also said he and several other new Democrats were “just sick and tired” of nothing getting done legislatively in the upper chamber.

“There are a lot of us who just want to get things done,” Booker said. “There is too much at stake.”

Booker easily won his reelection Tuesday night, but several vulnerable Democrats are seeking reelection in conservative states, such as Louisiana, Alaska and Virginia.
