GOP keeps Cotton House seat in Arkansas
Bruce Westerman, a Republican, beat back a challenge from a former Clinton administration official to win an open House seat in Arkansas, according to news outlets.
{mosads}Westerman, a state representative and former University of Arkansas football player, had roughly 52 percent of the vote with almost 60 percent of precincts having reported. He defeated James Lee Witt, who led the Federal Emergency Management Administration under Bill Clinton, Arkansas’s former governor and favorite son.
Westerman’s victory keeps Rep. Tom Cotton’s seat in Republican hands. Cotton unseated Sen. Mark Pryor (D) on Tuesday.
Democrats had some hope for Witt, but the district has a distinct Republican lean.
