Addressing Our Existing and Potential Water Management Problems (Rep. John Boozman)

The overall issue of watershed management and planning is only going to grow in importance as demand for water itself continues to grow. Congress has to focus on finding solutions to water supply problems throughout the country before the issue gets too big to handle.

Monday, the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee held a hearing that focused on one problem within one watershed in the Southeastern United States. Although I don’t think it helped simply to dwell on the old arguments of a long-running disagreement, I hope that the Subcommittee can soon look for ways to move the issue forward and bring attention to an issue that will most likely impact just about every corner of the nation.

There are experts on this issue out there – people with good experiences to share that can help us in Congress and in our communities to successfully address our existing and potential water management problems. Let’s hear from them. The sooner the better.

I hope solutions can be discussed at a Subcommittee meeting later this year.
