At Christmas party, Bachmann lobbies Obama to bomb Iran

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) used the White House Christmas party to lobby President Obama to bomb Iran.

The Tea Party firebrand said she confronted Obama while taking a picture with him and her family at the congressional party on Monday.

{mosads}“I turned to the president and I said, something to the effect of, ‘Mr. President, you need to bomb the Iranian nuclear facilities, because if you don’t, Iran will have a nuclear weapon on your watch, and the course of world history will change,’ ” she told The Washington Free Beacon

The president, in the midst of trying to broker a deal with Tehran to roll back its nuclear program, did not appear inclined to agree.

According to Bachmann, the president got a “condescending smile on his face and laughed at me.”

“Well Michele, it’s just not that easy,” Obama said, according to the congresswoman.

“And I said to him, ‘No, Mr. President, you’re the president. It will happen on your watch, and you’ll have to answer to the world for this.’ And that was it, and then I left. Merry Christmas,” she said.

It’s likely the last time Bachmann, who is retiring at the end of the Congress, will be at a White House congressional Christmas party with Obama.
