Senate clears dozens of nominations
The Senate confirmed dozens of noncontroversial nominations through a unanimous consent agreement on Tuesday night.
{mosads}That comes as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is working on a deal to wrap up legislative business for the year.
Reid has kept the Senate in session a week longer than he had originally wanted, mostly to clear more of President Obama’s executive and judicial nominations before Republicans take control of the upper chamber next year.
Reid was able to get agreement to confirm a handful of other nominations he filed cloture on over the weekend.
A list of those confirmed by voice-vote follows:
– Colette Honorable to be a member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
– Estevan López to be commissioner of Reclamation at the Department of Interior
– Marcus Jadotte to be assistant secretary of the Department of Commerce
– Jonathan Stivers to be assistant administrator of USAID
– Chris Smith to be assistant secretary of the Department of Energy
