Obamas to volunteer at Boys & Girls Club for MLK holiday
The president and first lady will honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day by doing community service on Monday, along with a number of other administration officials.
{mosads}The Obamas will participate in a community service project at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington, the White House said. They will be joined by senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, Cabinet Secretary Broderick Johnson and Corp. for National and Community Service CEO Wendy Spencer.
Vice President Biden will address the Organization of Minority Women’s Martin Luther King breakfast in Wilmington, Del.
Cabinet officials are also fanning out for service projects.
Education Secretary Arne Duncan and White House chief of staff Denis McDonough are volunteering at a high school in Southeast Washington, D.C.
Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald will serve meals to veterans at Fisher House in Washington.
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will volunteer at a homeless shelter in his home state of Iowa.
Joining Habitat for Humanity members, EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy is helping build homes in Northeast Washington.
Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson will deliver remarks at an event at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington.
