Reid chastises NFL over deflated footballs

Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) on Thursday said he was incredulous the NFL does not do more to monitor the inflation pressure of footballs before important games.
 
Pressure per square inch of pigskin has become a national obsession after the New England Patriots were accused of intentionally deflating game balls to give their quarterback, Tom Brady, an edge in the AFC championship game against the Colts.
 
{mosads}“As far as how much weight is in a football, as far as I know I can’t believe the National Football League with the billions of dollars they make couldn’t at least determine who much air should be in a football and why it should be left up to the team,” he said.
 
NFL investigators have found that 11 of the 12 game balls used by the Patriots were underinflated by about two pounds per square inch.

Brad Dayspring, a former spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, mocked Reid on Twitter for weighing in on the football scandal.
 
Adam Jentleson, Reid’s spokesman, shot back by tweeting that Dayspring is a “Pats apologist.”
