Ingraham uses CPAC speech to bash Bush
Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham used her speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) to slam moderate former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R).
The influential talk show host suggested that Bush, who is quickly becoming a favorite of the Republican establishment, could even run on the same ticket as likely Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton because of their policy similarities.
{mosads}”Why don’t we just call it quits, and Jeb and Hillary can run on the same ticket,” she said to applause.
Ingraham’s criticism reflects the way that conservative base is skeptical of Bush, who has locked down the support of many establishment donors and advisers.
Bush will appear at CPAC later on Friday before a possibly unfriendly crowd, where he’ll be interviewed by Fox News host Sean Hannity.
“The idea that we should be conducting any type of coronation in the Republican Party because 50 rich families decide who they think will best represent their interests. No way, Jose,” Ingraham said.
She also cracked a joke at Bush’s expense — alluding to the news that Bush’s wife Columba had bought thousands of dollars worth of jewelry.
“I think women could actually turn out in droves for Jeb Bush,” she said. “I mean, what woman doesn’t like a man who gives her a blank check at Tiffany’s?”
“I mean, ‘Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend’ would be a great theme song for Jeb!”
