Farm Bill Shouldn’t Amount to Corporate Welfare (Rep. Paul Ryan)
I’d like to commend my Wisconsin colleague Rep. Ron Kind (D) on his leadership in assembling a strong bipartisan coalition in favor of real farm policy reform. The government’s farm assistance programs should act as a safety net for family farmers in times of need — not a version of corporate welfare with million-dollar payoffs.
Through the Fairness in Farm and Food Policy Amendment unveiled yesterday our reform coalition aims to address the abuses and distortions of the current system and set up a better alternative to help struggling family farms during tough times.
