Columba Bush sports ’16 Jeb bumper sticker before bid announced
Her husband isn’t officially running, but Columba Bush is already driving with a Spanish-language bumper sticker supporting the former Florida governor for the White House in 2016.
The Daily Mail grabbed photos this week of Columba entering and exiting a green Mini Cooper in Coral Gables, Fla., with an orange “Viva Jeb! Presidente 2016” sticker.
The sticker is next to another for their son, George P. Bush, from his successful bid for Texas Land Commissioner last year.
{mosads}It’s unclear who produced the bumper sticker, as its doesn’t immediately appear on any websites selling Jeb Bush gear. A spokeswoman told the Daily Mail that the sticker “was a fun gift Mrs. Bush received.”
Hispanic voters are expected to represent a key demographic for Bush, who marked Cinco de Mayo this year with a Spanish-language video.
Bush has not yet declared his White House bid, or at least not on purpose. Earlier this month he told reporters, “I’m running for president in 2016” before quickly walking back his declaration.
Federal Election Commission regulations limit candidates’ fundraising abilities once they declare.
Bush’s wife of 41 years, who is known for her shy public demeanor, has signaled she intends to play a larger role in Bush’s widely expected presidential run than some political observers initially expected.
She has raised her profile recently by appearing alongside her husband at political events, launching Twitter and Instagram accounts and writing a Des Moines Register op-ed during a recent trip to Iowa.
