Obama: ‘I’m not as good as I used to be’ at basketball
Playing basketball is no longer a slam dunk for President Obama.
“I used to play basketball more,” Obama lamented in an interview with Marc Maron on the WTF Podcast released Monday, “but there are days I’ve gotten to the point where it’s not as much fun because I’m not as good as I used to be and I got frustrated.”
{mosads}The 53-year-old commander in chief has long been a fan of shooting hoops, even playing pickup games with a variety of pros over the years, including LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Dwyane Wade, and Alonzo Mourning.
“I was never great,” Obama said, before adding, “but I was a good player and I could play seriously.”
These days, the president says, “I’m like one of these old guys who’s running around. The guys I play with who are all a lot younger, they sort of pity me and sympathize with me.”
“They tolerate me, but we all know I’m the weak link on the court — and I don’t like being the weak link,” Obama said.
