Court Made the Correct Decision (Rep. John Boozman)

Yesterday, I was pleased to learn of the Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision to uphold the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003. I feel the decision represents a victory for those of us, on both sides of the aisle, who fight daily to protect the sanctity of human life.

Let us be clear about the issue. Whether you call it “partial-birth abortion,

As a co-sponsor of the original bill in 2003, I was proud when we passed it in the 108th Congress, just as I was proud when President Bush signed it. That pride continues today as the banning of this horrific, appalling, medical procedure is now the law of the land.

I wish to congratulate my good friend, Rep. Steve Chabot (R) of Ohio, on the success of his legislation in the Supreme Court. I also wish to congratulate the bipartisan group of legislators in both the House and Senate who voted for this ban. This is how are system works, where all three branches of our government sign-off on our laws.

As a member of the medical profession, and the father of three daughters, I am glad I am around to see the day where this procedure will no longer be performed on the women and unborn children of America.
