Report: Labor Secretary Perez to meet with Gawker
Labor Secretary Thomas Perez will address Gawker employees Friday, after it became the first online news company to unionize earlier this year, according to Politico.
Gawker employees unionized in June. They became the first such Internet news organization to join the Writers Guild of America, East union.
According to the report, Perez contact Gawker about setting up the meeting so he could “talk to them and hear the story about how and why they started to organize.”
The Labor Department did not immediately return requests for comment.
