‘Bernie Sanders’ dances in ‘Hotline Bling’ parody
“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Tuesday released a video portraying Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in a parody of Drake’s colorful “Hotline Bling” music video.
{mosads}The 40-second spot features Sanders’s face superimposed onto a body dancing like the rapper in his recently released silhouette-wiggling video.
Sanders himself danced during an appearance on DeGeneres’s show last month.
“Ellen got her hands on the presidential candidate’s new campaign ad,” the show said in its online posting of the video, which ends by flashing Sanders’s campaign logo and says it was “Paid for by Bernie 2016.”
An “Ellen” spokesperson said the video was a parody created by the show and was “not officially endorsed” by Sanders’s campaign, which didn’t return inquiries about the video.
“All right. Hillary, it’s your move,” DeGeneres said Tuesday after the video aired.
Sanders’s campaign released its first TV ad on Sunday, a biographical video ending with his stump speech focused on income inequality.
