Tuesday: ObamaCare, climate
The Senate could move toward legislation on Tuesday that would repeal parts of ObamaCare.
Senate Republicans suggested on Monday evening that they saw a path forward for the reconciliation bill, which would include phasing out the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid expansion and defunding Planned Parenthood.
{mosads}Republicans will need 51 votes to move the legislation through the Senate.
No votes are currently scheduled in the Senate, though lawmakers are expected to recess from 12:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. for weekly party lunches.
Meanwhile, the House will take aim at President Obama’s climate regulations while the president is in Paris negotiating a climate deal.
The House will take up two Senate-passed resolutions aimed at blocking carbon dioxide limits for power plants.
House lawmakers will also vote on the fiscal year 2016 spending bill for intelligence-related actives, which includes a provision blocking funding for bringing Guantanamo Bay detainees into the United States.
Votes in the House are expected between 1:45 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. and 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
